Paintings | Born 1970 in Chile, Alejandro grows up freely
with his three siblings in a small city between the Pacific coast and Santiago. The
parents, middleclass people, give a “strong” occupational preparation to their
children. Only Alejandro sticks out. He wants to become an artist. He begins 1990 his art study at the renowned “Universidad de Chile”, that he finishes 1996 with most supreme distinction. Details of his studies. The first years as a painter, Alejandro isolates himself completely from the world in his workshop in Santiago (Chile) and works as possessed on his hyper-realistic pictures, in which he confronts with the banalities of the everyday life. In these years, also almost two hundred self portraits are created, testimonies of the trips into the lowermost spaces of his confused inside world and he painted over hundred-twenty still lives – always the same fruit bowl – only the content changes according the season- in which he finally frees himself from all concepts and theories. In 1998, he is asked to decorate the altar wall in the church in Cauquenes (Chile) with a landscape. Only hesitantly he consents. It is his first step out from the guarded isolation into the fullness of the world. The same year he has two crucial meetings that changed his whole life completely: A woman and a landscape. Since then, he is living and working in Patagonia (South of Argentina). He painted his landscapes in Chile, Argentina and Germany. Alejandro considers it very important, that the arts are not only something for an elite. His engagement is to show the arts as well to people who never entered in an art-gallery or a museum. It is a big satisfaction for him, when he showed his work in the Metro of Santiago (Chile), because more than a million people could see his pictures during February and March 2002.
